Some very wide progress gaps can exist between breeds, especially depending on the number of breeders who have dogs and breedings of this breed.

French Bulldog: the hunting and fighting companion

The French Bulldog is a dog breed which is a direct descendant of the Molossian dogs (an ancient Greek tribe) and Tibetan dogs. This dog''s head should be very developed, a short flat nose and a strong square jaw. They are also characterized by their muscular build, short hair and small size.

The French Bulldog breed was originally in the Tibet region about a thousand years ago. At this time, they were used as weapons and helped hunt big game. There were also used as fighting dogs, especially against Fauves and other dog breeds. The name "bulldog" comes from these practices which were banned in Britain in 1835. The Bulldog was only imported into France in 1850. They were well-known to storekeepers, especially as rat hunters.

French Bulldogs were also used to hunt pests and rodents. What''s more, they are great companion dogs known for their entertaining qualities and their cute little faces. There are a lot of famous people who have been particularly attracted to this little dog. For example, Kind Edward VII adopted a French Bulldog as his pet and called him Peter. Josephine Baker, Collette and Yves Saint Laurent were also obsessed with this little animal which they all were happy to adopt.
